OPEN CALL for Scripts and Bars Incubator 2023

Are you a creative in the music or literature sector? Do you want to level up your skills to a pro level, network with other creatives, and showcase your work to a wider audience? If you are a Zimbabwean citizen and resident between the ages of 18 and 35, then this is the opportunity for you!

Kay Media Africa, in collaboration with Reprezent Radio UK and supported by British Council, is excited to open applications to participate in the Scripts and Bars Incubator 2023 for music and literature creatives. The programme is open to creative writers, bloggers, poets, spoken word artists, podcasters, comic book artists and illustrators, as well as creative managers such as cultural producers, artists managers, booking agents and more.

The programme will help you gain new digital and creative business skills through participating in workshops and events facilitated by experts and veterans in the creative industry from the UK and Southern Africa. You will also have access to opportunities to network and make new connections with other creatives in Zimbabwe and the UK. You will collaborate with local and UK creatives to create new digital content. And you will access platforms to elevate your profile through showcasing your work and skills to a wider audience in Southern Africa and the UK.

Eligibility:

Creatives between the ages of 18-35 in the following categories are welcome to apply.

Music creatives– DJs, producers, musicians (Vocalists and instrumentalists)
Literature creatives– creative writers, bloggers, spoken word artists, podcasters
Digital artists– animators, illustrators, videographers, multimedia designers
Creative entrepreneurs- cultural producers, studio managers, artist managers, hub managers and leaders of collectives within music and literature sectors.

  • Applicants must have been active in the music, literature, or digital content creation sectors for at least 2 years.
  • Applicants must be a Zimbabwean citizen and resident.
  • Applicants must have a digital presence that showcases their portfolio of work.
  • Applicants must be able to attend workshops and events in Harare or Bulawayo

Women and those with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
